Company running two Montreal recycling plant to halt operations.
Rebuts Solides Canadiens runs two recycling facilities in Lachine and St-Michel that are going be shut soon. The company has stated that the current economic plan is not viable enough. Jean-Francois Parenteau, who is the executive committee member of Montreal, said that the situation is dangerous. In a statement, the city said that after the meeting that was held with the company, they were informed that the company has intentions to close up the plants, but they are not apparent by when they will halt the operations.
In a statement by RSC, it was stated that there were no solutions suggested from the city side; however, the company made no mention of intentions to cease the operations. China recently banned imported waste, which had a significant effect on the RSC's revenue. Montreal gave $29 million in funding to the company in May 2018. The city said it's working on keeping its recycling facilities running.
